Elm St. is lined with amazing homes. Malone was the hub of the North Country at the turn of the century.
The Wead family were important citizens. Several were heroes of the Civil War.
The inside is as beautiful as the outside. These homes feature outstanding wood balustrades and trim.
Many of these homes feature ballrooms on the second floor. The Wheeler House (the Malone Lodge of Elks)
ball room holds 250 people!
Several of these large homes have been divided into luxury apartments. They have maintained the Victorian features.
Memorial Park, a Village property, is a gem from the 1800's. The fountain dates back to circa 1870. In Farmer Boy, a chapter on the 4th of July, details its beauty and importance.
An assisted living retirement home has been in business since the turn of the century.
These homes are well kept and the array of flowers in the summer are replaced by beautiful Christmas decorations in winter.
Many of these homes include carriage houses. Who doesn't need extra storage? Some have been made into apartments.
Imagine sitting on this porch on a hot summer day.
Between the carriage house and the main house, there are nine apartments. Imagine one family used to live in it!
This beauty is on Park St., along with dozens others, in an array of different architectual styles.
