America’s Most Affordable Ski Towns Revealed: Malone is # 1

Malone was labeled

"Star of the North," at the turn of the century because it was the hub on several railroads.  From Ottawa and Montreal to New York City and the West, Malone was the center of transportation for Northern NY.  It was a rich town, and hundreds worked for the railroads.  One could take the train to Montreal, have a nice dinner, see a play, and hop back on the train for home the same day!
